Betta Fish: Are these stress stripes? He’s a samurai betta, I just got him a week ago…do you think maybe he’s just settling in?

I say yes, what is his tank like? Answering the bot question and showing us a picture can help us! Stress stripes usually go away very quickly

Looks like it. You should turn off the lights and see if you can with low light if they go away. My female betta has stress Stripes that come and go depending on what’s going on she’s very sensitive.

Is that tank heater rated for 20 gallons? It looks very small. Put your thermometer on the side of the tank opposite of the heater and see if the heat is dispersing throughout the water evenly. Stress stripes are usually caused by cold water from what I’ve observed
Can you post a topview picture of him? He looks like he may be underweight in this picture but I can’t be sure without seeing a picture of him from above
Also, dried bloodworms should not be fed regularly as they can lead to bloating and constipation and overall aren’t very good for a balanced diet. I would only give those only once or twice weekly as a special treat, and make sure you’re soaking them in tank water before feeding them to him

Is he the only fish in the tank? Sometimes they can get stressed out also if there’s a lot of stuff going on outside the tank and they can see it or noise etc.
