This tank (10gal) is still cycling—no fish in it yet! I’m planning on getting a betta and a mystery snail (I was also thinking about a baby clown pleco, but I’m not totally sure).
My heater keeps the tank at around 77°, but it doesn’t let me set a specific temperature, so I don’t know if I should get a different one just in case.
I’m also not sure if I need more or bigger plants (the ones I got are still growing) but I still want to make sure my betta has plenty of swimming room. This will be my first time owning a betta, and I’m so excited I just want everything to be perfect!
I will be getting a real water testing kit on Thursday (I just have the strips rn they aren’t as accurate) so that will let me know when I’m ready to get a betta!!! Just want y’all’s thoughts thank you so much.

Yeah dude I think you’re set. My only thought would be if you could reduce the flow from the filter bet this tanks a cutie
That honestly looks AWESOME for a first betta tank!! Definitely get the water test kit – it’s a life saver.
As far as the heater, I keep my betta tanks at 80*. Honestly, the bigger heaters are totally worth it even if they take up extra space. That way you can adjust as needed. It gives me extra peace of mind too. In my experience, adjustable heaters tend to be much more reliable and accurate
Looks great! I do recommend some tall plants though. Bettas like to hide and swim through them. And some resting spots near the top.
