My boy, Prince, is hella bloated… he’s swimming fine and still active, I just fasted him for a few days. I just did a 50% water change two nights ago. When I finished I dosed with aquarium salt and Seachem Paraguard, because recently I had two of my 8 Panda Cory’s in this same tank come down bad with something and as soon as I noticed them I took them out and put them in hospital tank. I lost one and within like 3 days the other got sick and he didn’t last a day and a half in there before he was gone… could it be parasitic? Everyone else is fine the other 6 pandas are good… but Prince isn’t looking to great. Please help.. what do you all suggest?

  1. I know u said u fasted him but is there anything he could be helping himself to (baby shrimp, algea wafer, etc etc) my betta likes to try to eat everything so i have to frequently fast him

I hope someone more educated can answer but i don’t really see pineconing and you said you fasted him. Maybe try epsom salt baths? Watch his poop and see if it’s white, which might indicate something parasitic. Could be be eating stuff in the tank? Like shrimp or snails? I really hope you figure it out!

Just to add, everytime i’ve seen bloating of any sort on my betta and i’ve fasted, i do a few epsom salt baths and after x amount of days the liquid is drawn out and he’s back to normal. If you havnt tried this i’d give it a shot! So far the most i’ve had to do epsom salt baths in a row is twice, it’s always worked fast

Made a post about this a few days ago. I did a water change and the same thing happened to my boy. Went to bed wondering if I was going to find my George dead but luckily with a HUGE sigh of relief when I hopped out of bed first thing in the morning he wasn’t bloated any more.

I’m not an expert but maybe he’s stressed out? I know that some betta can be put with other fish but don’t betta thrive in low stress tanks? I remember I had a betta that was doing great and I introduced neon tetras and a snail and he became stressed and eventually sick. What if you try putting him in a solo tank?
