At first it was just 1-2 of them on the wood, and wood physically remove them. They do take a bit of force to pluck out. But now they are spreading all over. It's even grown on the plastic of the intake pipe. I don't know if I should be concerned about it or not. I haven't seen any negative impact from them on my fish.

Also any advice on how to remove or minimize them would be welcome.

  1. I should have also mentioned that they seem to be only growing on the side where the light hits directly.

    Looks like little clumps of black beard algae. It can be prevented the same way as other algae can (reduce excess nutrients in water, lower light exposure, use live plants).
