Betta Fish: My wife surprised me. I had been talking about getting a Betta for a couple of months and this was waiting when I got home. Now the gearitus kicks in and the bubble filter and everything else is getting set up today.
A double tail male in my favorite blue color. I still need a name for this blue beauty.
Im super happy to finally have a fish tank after talking about it for almost a year.

That is a very pretty betta! As far as I’ve seen, people here will probably recommend switching from fake to live plants, as fake ones could tear bettas fins.

It sounds like your tank isn’t cycled

He’s beautiful! If you are new to tanks, look up cycling and “new tank syndrome”. You can cycle with him in the tank if you use Seachim prime. KaveMan Aquatics has videos on this.
Also, yes to live plants and checking for anything that can snag his fins. The live plants will also help establish your biofilter.

Fish aren’t good surprises unless you already have a well established tank…
