I just got a fish and tank 2 days ago. The fish was a surprise and so I rushed to get a tank. I was worried about the height of the tank I got and decor. Following some advice on here. I got him out of the tiny tank as quick as possible. I have to do cycling with fish in there since he couldn’t stay in the small one. I put him in last night and left the light off until 24 hours was up to help with stress. Once light was on I fed him 4 pellets of betta food. This is his set up there is 2 ferns and an amazon sword. I put rotala vietnam in there, which was putting debris in the tank, he tried to eat it but spit it out. Should I take out the rotala or is it fine? I got him a little clam decoration to match his gems from his old tank which I rinsed and added to his new tank to hopefully make him more comfortable I’m thinking of getting one of those silicone balls you can stick to the side that they can hide and rest in would that be good, as something he could sleep near or by since the tank is taller and he used to sleep at the bottom. He has a leaf hammock right now. As well as a sponge to prevent his fins getting caught in filter and netting to slow water flow down. Is the stuff I’m thinking of getting good? If not any other ideas? Is there something you think I should add? Am I doing it right so far? Should I remove the rotola vietnam? It’s my first time owning a fish so i’m very concerned and want to make sure i’m doing it right he seems happy though. I’ve had dogs, hamsters, a bunny, and a guinea pig so it’s entirely new to me.

I would add 1 or 2 floating logs so there’s a place for his to rest/hide at the top. They like being towards to the top of the tank.
Looks great so far! I would add some floating plants to the top and defo a few other plants.
For aesthetics purposes I would also add a black background it’ll make the shank look so much nice and hide the chords from at the back of the tank and make everything else pop
