He is in a 10 gal tank. I had 2 filters running, but the main one made too much flow and he couldn’t barely swim near.
He’s been most of the time staying in the darker area of the tank. I put today some food today(dried bloodworms and pellets) and he didn’t respond to the food.
There are some other mates in the tank: shrimps, mystery snail and 1 cory.
What do you think? Is he still in the learning and discovering journey and that’s why he’s shy?
Would the light be too strong for him? He has a lot of hiding spots and shaded areas.
Does his tail look ok?
I’m thinking of taking that cartridge filter and putting a second sponge filter.

he’s looking a little rough but it’s probably just from cup life and not being able to swim around and keep muscle tone. it might be he’s not responding to food because he doesn’t recognize what you’re giving as food. depends on what he was being fed at the store. still, try to be careful about overfeeding one he gets the idea. most fish don’t like really high light, but this looks fine. sponge filters are my filter of choice, especially for betta because they don’t create much of a flow. one for a ten gallon is probably enough but if you want a second it wouldn’t hurt. tank mates sound good, he probably just needs some time to get used to it all.
