First time aquarium holder and betta owner. Is he happy? All the pictures in this subreddit make them look nicer then mine. (The fins)
He has tankmates and most of the time he likes them.
2x Xiphophorus maculatus
1x nerite snail
And other snails
Thinking about adding shrimps
Water:
pH = ± 6.8-7.2
kH = ±6°
GH= >14°
Nitrate and nitrite are ok
Tank is ±45L

I’d say he looks happy, he flares but not aggressively. If you really wanna know, watch him from afar. If he swims around, hangs out for short periods and normally flares, comes to the glass when you’re near, eats eagerly, then he’s happy.
If he hides a lot, chases your other fish around, or just sits in one spot constantly, he’s most likely stressed either from water quality or other fish (for my first betta it was water quality)
