What should I use this setup for

I just recently got a 42” timber blue steel v2 from an ice fishing show.

I’m not sure if I should use it for deadsticking, or use it as an active bait rod. It’s a medium heavy power with a slightly stiffer tip than I would normally use for a deadstick.

I wanted a beefier rod to handle big greenbacks on lake Winnipeg.
