Hard to tell without seeing the tail. I’m no marine biologist but looks like either a lake or bull trout. Lake trout would have a deeply forked tail, bull trout little to no fork. You should know that if it is a bull trout that they are a step below endangered and illegal to keep or target in all but a select few areas.

Definitely of the Char family. Not a brook trout but almost. How about some context? State or province? Was it in a river or lake? Ocean tributary?
