Winter is coming in Texas and my tank, which has been kept in the high 70s-low 80s by the weather, is now getting chilly. I have a 5.5 gallon and need recs on a heater! i’ve been avoiding getting one so far because of the horror stories of them exploding or cooking your fish 🙁

It needs to be adjustable or stop when the water reaches the right temp automatically because of how all over the place the weather has been.
also paying the fish tax- that’s my girl Fetti

  1. I’m new to the fish world but the one I have for my 10gal is a hygger. It has an alarm that will beep if it fails and it is adjustable. Another one I hear good things about is Eheim heaters, but really it’s just about what you’ve found works. If you’re pretty worried about the heater failing, use the inkbird temp controller (this is not a heater it will shut off your heater if it goes over or under the certain temp you set) but in all my research I’ve found that there’s no perfect heater and everyone has had some horror story with all heaters. Good luck to you! (Also, you probably know this but bettas need their water temp from 78-82 degrees Fahrenheit preferably 80 and make sure you unplug the heater when you do a water change or clean the tank!)
