I know they have to breathe air from the surface intermittently. Do I have too many floating plants? If so, what percentage of these should I remove?

i see large gaps in between your plants, bettas are quite smart and they won’t gulp any air if there’s no air to gulp lol, this is fine and your tank is beautiful:)

Looks fine for now! But if you want to maintain a clear area for the future, you can make a little floating ring out of airline tubing and an airline connector to block off one section of the tank. That’ll keep floaters from getting into that spot and ensure your betta can always surface.
