I feel like an awful mother. After getting him in January 2023, my sweet elephant nose Alfredo passed away last night.
I don’t think he was that old. He was full grown when I got him but idk. I feel like it’s my fault.
Now I leave behind my ropefish, yoyo loach, and bristle nose pleco. My ropefish was his best friend I got them together and I feel so awful. Like I did something wrong.
RIP to my Alfredo. Swim in heaven baby.

RIP Alfredo
What species was that first one? The black one.
Get another Ropefish, mine like to hang out together
Oh no! I know how special these elephant noses are. I’m so sorry for your loss. I had an elephant nose ‘Ricky’ I lost because of equipment failure/heater causing the water temp to go too low. I’ve been looking for another one of these fish for a while but can’t find them in my area because they’re rare. Most elephant noses that are available are all wild caught because it’s hard to breed them in captivity, which is why they’re hard to find
If I’m not mistaken, don’t elephant noses require a soft substrate?
