I read that you should use snell knot for the circle hooks, but this rig has snaps on it for the hooks. Should I just use the J hook? I will have pole on one of those spring rod holders, but idk if that would set a J hook.

Circle hooks. Circle hooks help prevent gut hooking the fish. The circle hook catches the side of the mouth.
With J-hooks you’ll have a good chance of them swallowing it and gut hooking the fish.

I hand tie my double drops now, loose the snap swivels and tie the hooks to the leader. Plenty of YouTube videos.
