I was about to do some plant work and then saw this little guy hanging out on my floating decoration. I have red floaters and massive Lily pads from my banana plant, but luckily for me the damselfly liked my fake floating plant. I threw it away and removed the damselfly.
I’m concerned that I found an adult and am wondering if I should be concerned about an infestation. There was a nymph that was limp on the same decoration as the adult fly. So two were found.
Any advice would be appreciated! I know my water is very healthy, and it is only for a single male betta; however, I read that these flies are predators and can prey on small fish.

When they climb out of the water to change into the adult, they leave behind a little nymph shaped exoskeleton, maybe that was the nymph you found next to it?
And in my experience, the nymphs can hunt little baby shrimp but would most likely not be able to catch an adult shrimp. Seeing as a better is even larger, if that’s all you have fish wise then everything is probably safe. Damselfly larvae can catch tiny little bug thingies in the water.
