I’ve been trying to treat him for WEEKS. I’ve tried salt baths, methylene blue baths (and both of them combined), catappa leaves, increasing the temperature… and NOTHING seems to work. If anything I feel like he’s been getting worse. I don’t know what to do and I feel so bad because it’s the first time actually investing in a fish and wanting to take good care of it and I did so much research before buying him, yet I still seem to mess things up. Please help me and give me some advice, what worked for treating fin rot for you or what you’ve heard that might work. (Also I have 3 cory fish in the aquarium as well, so treating the whole thing with salt would be impossible. I’ve stopped the salt baths after I put catappa leaves in the aquarium, as I read that they should help with the fin rot, ever since then it’s like his condition has gotten much worse)
(The 1st picture was taken a few days after I got him, and the 2nd & 3rd right now. I want to mention that obviously I only put him in the cup right now because I thought doing nothing is worse, so I’m doing a salt bath)
Sorry if I made this too long but I’m really starting to panic because he’s not active almost at all, the only thing that gives me hope is that he still eats really well every time I feed him.

Decrease the temperature. Down to around 22C / 72F. Higher temperatures make bacterial infections *worse*, not better.
Also try to keep the water as clean as you can. Don’t clean your filter.
Hey! It’s actually a common misconception to turn the heat up, it can enhance bacterial growth. Turning the temp down might actually help a lot better. I also bought APIs bettafix fin medicine and it has helped WONDERS on my betta. Going from completely splotchy and colorless fins, jagged edges and completely ripped.. to turning a VIBRANT blue and finally getting some of his fins to look much better. One last thing, fin rot can actually be transmitted to other fish through shared water 🥲 I’d advise you to look into it and see if the Cory’s are susceptible to it, just to make sure your other fishes are safe! Hope this helps and if you have questions lmk! ❤️🩹🐠
I had a juvenile that looked similar to yours. But as he grew his tail did the same thing. Turns out after I did exactly what you did… I talked with a breeder on here and they mentioned he probably has a crowntail somewhere in his lineage. The fins don’t look red and swollen as they do with fin rot.
As I look at the OPs pic I think you are spot on. The white betta doesn’t seem to have any fin rot and the fish may simply be stressed and not acting like itseld
