Trying to set up this reel and instead of spoiling the line is just twisting up. Watched multiple videos and the set up looks the same as what the guys on yt are doing so I truly have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Please feel free to roast me for missing some obvious step.
Is the line too thick to used as backing?

What lb line u tryna spool?
Spool back up to that point, hold tension on the spool and untwist that, then flip the spool of line over with the label opposite of where you had it initially, spinning reel direction boggles me everytime. Also helps to soak the spool in warm water.
I am a fan of braid to a mono leader, you could run 25-40lb braid here and it’s a bit easier to spool due to the lack of memory, just get it on the reel securely. That line is wayyyy too thick for that reel.
Press the knot and spin the bail to get a couple of wraps going, fill the spool. Your biggest issue here is using 100lb test on a reel rated for 20 lb.
You could tow a boat with that line
I put a little pice of friction tape on the spool to keep the line from twisting.
