I was away for few months and left my fish to my family, they left them to rot.
Half of them are dead.
The ones that are alive have black gills I have no idea how to treat it and there aren't any fish vet near me. I'm heartbroken. I have now separated them from the water which was completely BLACK.

I’m sorry that happened. That’s awful.
Sounds like an algae bloom from the waste water.
What size tank were all these fish in and was there a filter?
If I left my tank alone for a month I would come back to some scrubbing, sure, but my fish would be fine as long as someone fed them a couple times.
