This is Lucas, I wanna get an idea of what his colors are gonna look like once he’s a bit bigger and stronger (I got him from pet supplies plus today, told my dad to get me the saddest looking one). I am also worried that his tank might be like too big or overwhelming, the lady I bought it from said it was a 20 gal but I’m pretty sure it’s 15. Is there anything in there that could hurt him? Should I add anything else? The last photo shows how small he is compared to the tank (if you can even find him lol)

More space like this is good! Thought I’m sure Lucas would appreciate some hiding spots 🙂

There’s no knowing what his colors will turn out to be. Enjoy the journey. From the top down pic, he is very skinny. That doesn’t mean you should feed more, but don’t be surprised if he fills out a little. Live food like bbs are a great source of nutrition and enrichment.

Pull up your java ferns. They shouldn’t be planted. Tie, wedge or glue them to hardscape. A red tiger lotus or dwarf water lily will add some color and perfect leaves for your betta to lounge on. Microsword makes a great groundcover.

Looks perfect to me! Bigger is better, I don’t believe people that think Bettas need smaller tanks. For long-finned Bettas having too tall of tanks is not ideal but more space to explore is always good.

nothing in there will hurt him, however when he grows older and his fins grow longer he might have some troubles getting to the surface! id add a taller plant or something like a floating coconut hide so he can sleep at the surface if he chooses! make sure youre fattening him up a little too, he looks a little thin

So 100% lots, LOTS more plants, and get some botanicals for sure! Some frozen food and Fluval bug bites and he should perk right up.
