I found this betta on my marketplace, it kinda caught my eye. I just wanna know what are your thoughts about this.

I personally love it, although it will probably get darker like all koi bettas inevitably do. With the globetta gene it will probably have a dark green body once it matures and colors up (google “hulk betta”)

That’s a glo-betta (genetically engineered to be fluorescent). It will glow under UV illumination (blacklight).
They stopped selling these in stores, I believe.
As far as I’m *aware* they don’t have any unusual health problems. Unlike the selective breeding methods used to create most “fancy” traits (unusual fin shapes etc.) the genetic engineering method used to make the fish fluorescent does not require extensive inbreeding.

I think it’s a GloFish(TM) betta. I also think they don’t “make” them anymore. Though there may be some people out there breeding them? I think I read somewhere that the Glo-bettas had problems like going blind and were extremely susceptible to infection. This might also explain why they are no longer available for sale – at least through GloFish.
i personally dont like glo fish in general, dedinitely not a fan in a betta haha

Ooooo a glofish betta. Hard to find anymore since they stopped being bred by glofish proper and anyone selling them may get sued. Very cool. He looks like he has good body confirmation too opposed to other globettas I’ve seen recently. I’d buy him lol

Glo fish betta bred with a natural koi betta. A plethora of Asian breeders (India/Malaysia/Indonesia/Thailand/Vietnam) got a hold of Glo bettas and bred them into their strains. The result is a healthier betta with the flouresence gene. I have sold quite a few and kept one, they are no different than any other betta in terms of requirements and general health. Actually, I think the Asian breeders did a spectacular job compared to Spectrum Brands, the company who originally made a mess breeding them.

It’s a glow betta hybrid very cool looking shockingly glow bettas were some of the healthiest least aggressive bettas on the market meaning they were perfect to breed with other strains both on purpose and on accident
