I've never been able to take a fish home, until now… I have a planted 15g blackwater with shrimp, and I've been planning on stocking a school of pygmy corys and either a female betta or a pair of sparkling gouramis. This betta at my work has caught my eye, she's been there for a while as she develops swim bladder when removed from the hospital room, then recovers almost immediately upon return. She's free to a good home as well, so my money wouldn't go towards the dreadful cups, and she's an absolutely miniscule specimen, like the smallest little betta you've ever seen. Cute and inquisitive too.
Issues are simply that I planned on establishing the corys first, and I found a store that regularly carries those gorgeous sparkling gouramis… I'm sure I'll get a biased opion on the betta subreddit, but should I jump and get her?

She’s beautiful! And clearly you’re attached. I say you get her!
That’s entirely up to you to decide, but personally I wouldn’t pass up a free betta đ I’d get her.
Yes, you have the chance to save her, you could create a unique bond with her
I’d get her if I were you! Generally (though not always) females are less aggressive, so I think you’d still be able to get corys down the road. You also could cycle a backup 5 gallon in case she does develop any murderous tendencies towards any future tankmates.Â
Edit: word
And I can see a glimmer of what it looks like slightly pink coloring so, she is going to surprise you with a beautiful glow up.
She looks like the one my husband and I saved about a month ago.
Within days her vibrant colors came out. Definitely get her. They have great personalities.
get her and share the colors she will get once you settle her into her new home!
Yes! I got a tiny white female Betta a couple months ago and she has colored up so nicely already.
