Found a few of these zingers at a thrift store today, and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to detach the end here so I can put on my own hemostats. It’s obvious that it pinches inward, but I can’t see any obvious way the wire comes out to release the pair on there now.

slide the middle piece and there is a gap, you might have to pinch one side in a little
