Hey folks!
My mother has a few acre, ten foot or so deep semi-muddy pond that has been stocked for a decade or so with largemouth and bluegill. Everyone catches and releases cause it’s just country kids fishing for fun and tossing back.
Now it’s over populated and the big bass are starving.
Through spring and summer I could land five or six eatin sized largemouth in about two-three hours off a single clacker buzz bait, poppin frog, and rooster tails in early morning through lunch time, then afternoon til dawn.
It’s going to stay in the mid 50s up til about 60 degrees at dawn.
What do yall recommend for yanking these suckers for fish fry? I’ve yet to try any worms or the like due to how successful I’ve been in the past in warmer months.
Fishing from the shore with a spin caster, braid, and a leader.
Thanks ahead of time from a newer fisherman whose father preferred to yell instead of teach when I was a kid!!
I’ve read some luck with drop shots?? Have never used one before!!

I love drop shots. Ive caught some nice fish on those. Ive also done really good with wacky worms. My favorite worm to use are the zoom 8 inch finesse worm redbug color. Just a worm and 5/0 ultra sharp worm hook. Slowly bounce it off bottom. Try and throw it right up against the grass and work it down the bank. Also if you have patience might try a shaky head. I personally don’t use them because the best way to fish them are extremely slow. They say if you are wondering if you are retrieving too fast then you probably are. I don’t have the patience for that. Lol. Good luck brother. Hope you catch a nice mess and have a great fish fry . Tight lines brother.
