    Tank size is 40L/10gal

    Temp is 27°C/80°F

    Nitrites 0.05

Tank has been cycled for >3 years

Other inhabitants include 2 amano shrimps, 1 nerite snail and pests assassin snails i need to get rid of.

It housed a betta fish before but it died 4 months ago and the water has been changed multiple times since.

Some advice, do the research before you acquire the fish. It’s a beautiful tank that you must have spent hours creating. Your fish are living animals that deserve to be prioritized over your aquascape.

“The best advice for keeping them healthy involves maintaining a proper male-to-female ratio, providing a varied diet, and ensuring a well-planted tank.”

    – Google.

They breed like rabbits, even if you just have females they are probably already pregnant, so have a plan for the babies they will soon over run a 10 gallon tank.

Other than that they are very easy to care for, very hardy and will eat anything. Spirulina flakes are a good option to keep them regular and avoid the poop strings they tend to get.

I bought 4 of them… took them home. One killed the other 3. Then he killed everything else in my tank. Got some more platys a few months later so he wouldn’t be alone… he killed those suckers too.
Any time I walk past the tank he glass surfs like a madman and I swear it’s cause he wants to kill me too.

    All Hail King Pumpkin.

  6. If you have done a baseline of research at this point and you are coming to this thread to ask us what *else* sticks out as being important, you should include the highlights of what you learned that you intend to do, so we can either correct, or add rather than just all hitting you with “google has the answers”.

  7. Why did you get an animal you don’t know anything about? You didn’t even think to google their heating , lighting and feeding requirements?
