I'm thinking of getting started selling my custom painted fishing lures online. I was wondering if I could get other bass fisherman's opinions on whether it would be better to post them on eBay or Etsy? Market research says Etsy for handmade products but I feel more bass fishermen are probably browsing eBay more than Etsy. What are your thoughts? Your feedback is appreciated!

Thank you,

  1. You’re definitely right more fishermen browse eBay, but it’s also more heavily stocked with stuff like this. Either platform will charge fees. I don’t know about Etsy but eBay’s fees are stupid high, some categories are like 25%-35% which makes it hard to make money after you ship. Check on the fees and I’d decide based on that.

Etsy is harder to search for things on. Their search bar sucks. go type “custom fishing lure” and rods, knives, bobble heads, and all sorts of other stuff will pop up.

The color on picture #4 f¥€ks! What a great pattern. I would have huge confidence with that one, but to answer your question, don’t deny the rest of the world your talent. Sell it and see how you do.
