I bought this female koi betta from PetSmart a few hours ago and the color change is INSANE. First pic is at PetSmart, second pic is acclimating to the water temp in my established tank. These pictures were taken three hours apartā¦ Is this normal? Iām used to them changing colors but not this fast. This is also my first female betta

I have no photos because this was damn near 20 years ago now, but my very first betta ever as a kid came from Walmart. I picked the prettiest one there. He was all white and so gorgeous, looking up at me from the bottom of the cup with those big sad eyes. (My mother probably knew how sick he was, I didn’t know, he was the one I wanted, and I would not be swayed).
We put him in the family tank. A 29g with two goldfish (this was prior 2010, we had no clue and mum is still a dog person) and no heater. We turned the lights off for the night, went to bed with a pretty white fish named Snowball.
I was very confused when I checked on my fish in the morning and there was what appeared to be a completely different betta. He turned pink and purple overnight.
And that’s how I ended up with Razzberry. And now, almost 20 years later, a very bad case of aquaddiction
I bet this fish will end up being almost solid blue or black
