Betta Fish: What’s the minimum tank size for good quality betta life?
I got a comment on instagram saying the bare minimum is 10 gallon. I have a planted ~7gallon tank for my betta, 3 amano shrimps and a snail.

I would personally say 15 gallons. Plants look great. 20 gallons ideal 🙂

Depending on who reads and responds to this post you’ll get a different answer from each response most likely.
I’d say you’d be fine with 7 gallons. You’ve loads of plants for him so I’m sure he’s going to be pretty happy with life.

Probably 5 would be the minimum for the majority of people but you will have others saying around 10 gallon is the best. I had a limited amount of space at the time so I had went with a 3.5 gallon that’s planted and such, looks great but sometimes I do worry if it’s enough room for my fish, she seems to be doing amazing with her little nerite snail friend tho! Also what are those little plants in the right corner of the first pic lol they look like mini palm trees

Id say my bare minimum is 10. But 15+ is just so nice, I have 2 bettas currently one in a 10 and one in a 20L, but I have kept bettas in 5’s in the past. Had to downgrade from my 29 because I adopted a stunted cichlid, who would eat my bettas/other fish. But I used to keep my bettas in a 29.

5 gallons minimum. 3 gallons with lots of plants can be ok in special cases.

5 gallon is completely okay.

5 gallons, preferably on the longer end of things, is the recommended minimum. Something like the 5 gallon Fluval spec is perfect size and shape wise.
If you can swing it, a 10 gallon would be even better, but it’s not necessary. It seems every year the elitists come out of the woodwork to say we need even more gallons for a simple betta tank and it’s getting kind of ridiculous.
Anything over 10 is overkill and would be a kingly home for a betta fish.

Opinions will vary but my personal betta tank size is 56l/~15g. I’ve kept bettas in 6g before but I switched my current boy over to the bigger tank and it’s really noticeable in his activity. He explores all over the tank and is active as hell, despite being longfinned.
