Hi all!
I hope this is the right place to ask, I have a new Juwel Rio 240 I plan on heavily planting, there’s plenty of hardscape including wood and hiding spots. Video shown but please forgive the cloudiness, apparently I hadn’t washed the substrate as much as I thought I had

While waiting for it to cycle I would love to hear people’s suggestions on their favourite community fish for some inspiration, I’m looking for;

•Small/nano fish (nothing really too much bigger than a BNP)

•Ideally two different species of shoaling fish

•Lots of bright colours

•The weirder/more unusual the better

If anyone also has any plant suggestions I’d appreciate them too, there’s already

    go with two bright nano shoals. things like Chili Rasboras, Ember Tetras, CPDs, or Pencilfish. They stay small, look amazing in big groups, and love planted setups. Add a bottom group like Pygmy Corydoras if you want more activity. For plants, Monte Carlo or Dwarf Sag work great as carpets, and stems like Rotala or Ludwigia add color fast. Floating Water Sprite or Frogbit will help fish have some hiding spots while the tank cycles.

    Harlequin rasboras are one of my top recommendations personally, very simple but beautiful and unlikely to cause any issues for their caretakers or tank mates

    Black neon tetras are also a nice and very underrated option

    For lots of colors, I like platies personally

  3. Sparkling gourami are so cute and full of personality. They’d definitely appreciate a heavily planted tanlike you have planned.

  4. Cherry barbs are very enjoyable to keep, and will also help with cleaning plants. They also kinda look like mini goldfish.

  5. Various rainbow fish, snakeskin barbs, Denison barbs, most botia loaches or whatever cute cory I can get a group of.

  6. Oooooh I love it! If it was me I’d have so many neon tetras and corydoras in there! And kuhli loachs are cool too.

  7. I like my dwarf gouramis. They remind me of the color you usually see in saltwater fish. Galaxy rasboras are cool and take up zero space.
