Whatsup Fishy Gang?
I am currently a few weeks into cycling a 20gal long tank and am curious about livestock. This is my first tank build outside of a 5gal that hosts my betta, Trish.
I have decided that I would like to stock it with 2 honey gourami, 6 neon tetras, and 6 platies. Is this an ideal combination? I want to make sure that there is adequate space and that the different species will get along in their new home.
I'm relatively new to the hobby/lifestyle, so any suggestions or tips are appreciated and welcomed!

Stocking sounds pretty good, just make sure you get only male platies, I’ve heard they breed lol, in my experience honey gourami are pretty chill
I’m building my first community in a 20 as well!
My stocking is currently
8 harlequin rasbora + shrimp and a nerite snail
Then I’m adding one species at a time of
6 corydoras
1/2 honey gourami
The reason I chose these is because you want to have something occupying each “layer” so the honey would be at the top, rasboras in middle, and corys at the bottom.
Your tank and plan of the honeys and the tetras are perfect! If it were me I would replace the platys with a bottom dweller that you like so they can help eat any leftover food 🤙🏼
