My former fish Blue (passed away in August from fin-rot) had him for 18 months.
Please tell me he definitely was listening to me lol. I have more videos of him responding. Excuse my voice i would troll him a lot and talk to him in a weird voice.

I’m fully confident that fish will listen. Maybe not like a dog or cat but my betta will immediately swim near the surface if I start talking
Betta fish are sentient and among some of the most intelligent fish in the world. They can be taught voice commands. I’m sure he was listening
My boy definitely knows my voice and when I sing to him he just loves it.
