Visiting my grandfathers house, I know absolutely nothing about aquarium and neither does he. Says he feeds them 2 pinches a day, and the LEDS turn off at night. He’s had them 3 weeks without any deaths but I wanted to make sure nothing was going to go wrong.

Real plants are the way to go
has the tank been cycled at all?
Are the white spots… air bubbles?
My corydoras will drop eggs up a wall like that but that would be a torrential downpour of spawn.
Other than that, I don’t see anything he’s doing but seems to be a problem, but I’ll leave that to the experts once they get their elbow to the armrest.
Don’t hold your own head under the water
Buy some real plants they help a lot. Hornwort is cheap and easy to grow. Try to get some “pest” snails like rasmhorns or trumpet snails. They will keep your tank spotless
Fill the tank all the way up. Live plants are awesome but don’t expect them to thrive without special care. They need some kind of nutritious substrate and liquid aquatic plant fertilizer in the water, and good lights.
Most things deadly to a tank are invisible
