I got my betta 11 days ago and he will not stop glass surfing. Today I’ve put a towel over the front of the tank bc I’ve been reading other posts that say to do that if they’re still surfing after a week, but he’s still doing it. He does it with the lights turned off, he does it with dim lights, I literally don’t know how to help him. Do I just give him time or what ?

The tank is 20 gallons long with a couple mystery snails and 9 corydoras. 0 ammonia and nitrite, nitrate was at 10 before I did a water change yesterday, tank is 26 degrees Celsius. I did get him from a store that had him in a cup and he’s a pretty big boy, he barely fit in there (which is why I wanted him, I wanted him out of that cup), maybe he’s just in shock like where am I ??? Idk this is a long time to be glass surfing though.

He eats fine by the way. I just never see him not glass surfing. I never even see him resting. Even when I’m not in the room I’ll sneak a peak and he’s still doing it. Pls help

Some fish just do that. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad. It sounds like you may have a fish that enjoys it, for whatever reason. My own fish enjoys glass surfing occasionally, usually when I enter the room, to demand treats.

He’s a gorgeous fish in a beautiful tank. He might grow out of it in a few weeks, but I do not think his habit is a cause for concern right now.
