Aquariums: Chloralamine and cycling, a surprise possible benefit.
While this obviously won't be true for everyone, it's possible for some lucky folk to pick up nitrifiers from shed nitrifiers in chloralamine treated tap water.

This is probably the source of nitrifying bacteria when you setup a tank for the first time, fill it with tap water, and cycle it. Even without chloraminated tap water, there’s still some nitrifying bacteria.
