Betta Fish: I don’t know why his is fins are ripped up….

For some reason, my betta's fins are ripped up and there's a spot on his head that looks off. I'd like to say that it's in infection, so I'll probably be keeping him in a different tank. Although he does have artificial plants in his tank, I made sure none of them would tear up his fins. I do know, however, that he does get bored when I'm out (I'm out a lot) so he likes to press himself against a piece of decor and the glass and just stay there for a bit.
