So i bought one assassin snail in august and i bought one because i didn't want them to mate and i though they won't multiply alone?? Like i know some snails will reproduce even if theres only one but not asasin snail. And today i found like 3mm assassin snail 😐 is it possible i bought it pregnant and it gave born after 4 months or they can reproduce even if there's only one in tank?

  1. Only mammals become pregnant (I believe).

Pretty sure that Assassin Snails are hermaphrodites and might be able to spawn offspring through parthenogenesis, not quite sure, but probably what happened here if you didn’t accidentally got a hitchhiker somehow.

  2. Assassin snails can lay eggs and they can take up to 8 weeks to hatch. They need a male and female to reproduce. Most likely scenario is a hitchhiker.

  3. They can store sperm for a while and lay eggs even if they haven’t been around a male recently. The babies also tend to burrow and hide after hatching so often don’t get spotted for a while, your adult may have laid the egg right after you got her.
