Betta Fish: My betta swims away violently when touching anything in the tank, what should I do?
I got this boy yesterday, it's my first Betta fish, he lives in a 10 gallon with filtration, heater and some plants, is this behavior normal or should i be worried?

Just give him a little time to acclimate. He just got put in a big new environment and he might be a little bit spooked by getting touched by things until he settles into his new home

Took about a week for my guy to get used to his tank, now he’s happy as a clam (if he knew that was)

He’s deliberately rubbing his body on surfaces to “scratch an itch”, also known as flashing. You can tell it’s deliberate if you watch the clip very carefully. Something in the water is bothering him. It could also just be stress / not being used to the new water. Monitor him closely to see if he improves in the next few days.
