Just wanna come on here and share how amazing my black water tank has gotten. It’s a 70g. My fish are so happy and healthy they are truly thriving in this tank. I went for a full natural ecosystem look. 8 crazy corydoras catfish (3 pandas) (3 albinos) (2 red sailfin venezuela) (1 blue and orange rainbow shark) (2 veil angelfish) and a pleco. Was thinking about adding something else but not quite sure yet. Have about 11 natural plants and some java, about 5 things if drift wood and a bunch of realistic hiding spots. (The waters a little low bc my Cory’s are crazy and love to jump in the top plus I have it near a window)

Cory cats darting up to the top regularly says “low oxygen” to me (particularly for the species with flatter bellies – as opposed to mid-tank cory cats like pygmies).

Have any bubbles running? Surface agitation?

I would add 3 panda corys, 3 albino corys and 4 venezuelan corys so they each get a shoal of their own species.

It looks a little cloudy in addition to the tannins. There could be a bacterial bloom going on. As long as you aren’t overfeeding and doing regular water changes, it should clear up on its own.

If you ever want to switch it up, bajakah wood gives amazing red tannins when boiled.
