Update on this poor guy. It’s been a week and a half in his cycled tank. I fasted him for a week (I don’t think he’s even eaten his food past that) and we’re still just floating around. His mood has definitely improved after being introduced to his new tank, but ultimately, we’re the same. I’m 95% certain he has a spinal deformation.
I’m wondering opinions on quality of life at this point, and if euthanasia is more kind for him. He just sits there. I thought about getting him a “special needs” 2.5 gallon tank, but I’m just at war with what would be best for him. I have the small tank on order for him, so if the general Reddit consensus is to keep him, I will!

I just went through this exact scenario. I brought home a betta that seemed to be fine, drip acclimated him for an hour. As soon as he went into the tank he seemed to have a swim bladder issue. Couldn’t swim and would lay “lifeless” 24/7. He did not explore the tank and then unfortunately passed away less than 24hrs later. 😔
