Since learning that my betta has finrot, (something i wasn't aware of) does anyone have any tips on how to fix it? I've never treated a sick fish before and want to make sure Im doing the right thing

Edit: I got him from petsmart and am currently keeping him in a 10 gallon tank with a heater. Tank temp is around 76ish. I’ve had him for about 6 months.
I would start by getting an API fresh water test kit, they are much more accurate readings than strips. Once you have the readings we can give you advice from there on how to help him. Do you have a heater and filter in your tank? What are you feeding and how often
