hello, i have been treating my betta for a while now, like too long for there to be no visible improvement i feel, weeks or a month or so. i have tried salt baths, fin & body cure, and am now using maracyn 1 & 2 in a quarantine tank that i change the water and dose daily to every other day. his original tank is a 15 gal with a filter, heater 77°, bubbler, plants, moss balls, driftwood, rocks, botanicals, crushed coral, wonder shell, shelves, 2 floating betta logs, cave, snails, amanos and kuhli loaches (newly introduced) with weekly/biweekly water changes with seachem prime, shrimp tank plus, betta bowl plus, aqua essentials. quarantine tank i just use betta bowl plus, a tiny bit of aqua essentials, and a little shrimp tank plus. his current quarantine tank is a 5 gal with a filter, heater 76-77°, driftwood, moss ball, some plants & floaters, and things to sit in/on, snails to flare at lol

his condition seems to not be improving at all and i dont know why :(( big white ball on front bottom fin, and tail fin is scraggly and blackish. the black dot(s) on the body is new 😭😭😭 comparing to other's images my guy seems real bad, is it even fin rot, or something else worse?? he's always been a bit disheveled looking but seemingly content in every other aspect. i really dont know what happened and what to do at this point and am desperate for some insight and answers please. should i do another round or just finish up the treatment and move him back into his bigger home so he can at least live the rest of his life there and not the little one because im sure that doesn't help his stress either (he's chillin but still) please help, i love my little guy and want to do right by him…

  1. It sounds like your PH is really high, likely too high for a betta. It also sounds like you’re adding a bunch of stuff that you don’t need to be to your tank (shrimp plus, betta plus etc..)

Your guy has fin rot, so salt baths aren’t going to help with that. I’d just test your ph- get it within good parameters for a betta fish, take him out of the hospital tank and just let him be in the main tank, without all these additives.

You just need stable conditions and clean water
