So i am in no ways an expert on aquariums. But when i visit my grandma her aquarium always looks like this and i dont get it… she told me she cleans it every week (stones and decoration) but the algae growth is insane. Now this tank is for simple fish (mainly guppies) but i dont think she either needs a more powerful filter or maybe some plants? Also dont mind the creepy face its just an old finding nemo decoration. Also for your information the algae seems too be very liquid-ish not like clumped up together river algae.

Did she by any chance do a water change with mountain dew?
But actually how is she cleaning it exactly? is she doing (real) water changes?
You’ve heard of blackwater now get ready for *green.*
Jokes aside I think I see blinds in the background? If this is by a window it could be cause for an algal bloom. I know its not your tank but can you get parameters on it? If there’s no plants the algae also won’t have any competition to feed on nitrates and other nutrients.
Shes got crazy green water. Caused by excess light and nutrients. She should likely reduce light and feeding, though i think i see a window right behind so light control might be tough. Adding plants would help a lot, as would a stronger filter. Some big water changes would help too. I would suggest some floaters as they will suck up nutrients and are super low maintenance. She can just scoop them out and chuck them when it gets too full
Well tbh this is actually really good for them because guppies like to breed if hair grass like this so there probably thriving on there
Shrimp/snail heaven 😂
The Burning Legion has invaded his tank from the looks of it
Too much light and nutrients. You can limit the light by adding floating plants to block the light from penetrating down into the water. They will help absorb the nutrients too. Add a wallpaper to the back side of the tank to prevent light from coming in from that side of the window. As for nutrients, tell her to try and feed the fish less. Guppies have really small stomachs so they don’t need much.
That nemo is the most terrifying aquarium decor I’ve seen in my entire life it scared the shit out of me😭😭
THAT NEWO LOOKS LIKE HE WOULD SUFFOCATE YOU AT NIGHT
oh no….
I’m no expert either, but the first thought that comes to mind when I see green water is daphnia.
Maybe turn off the light on occasion.
Are there any fish in it? Firstly – WTF is this?. If there are fish in it, save the fish. Create a secondary campaign for the smaller organisms and life in that tank. Is all life valuable?
