I have a 20g long and was trying to tell how many fish (if any) I could add to it. It’s a tank I’m pretty proud of, with the plants and fish seeming to be thriving! It has a fair bit of fishies though. 1 bn pleco, a pair of sparkling gouramis, 5 neon tetra, 3 black neon tetra, 4 kuhli loach, 5 chili rasboras, and an unknown number of cherry shrimp and ramshorn snails. While it sounds like a lot I don’t often see all of the fish at once as half are nocturnal. I want to get a few more chili rasboras, but I also saw hatchets at my lfs and thought they were so cool. Is my tank maxed out? Could it support a 6-7 school of hatchets? It’s also running a Seachem Tidal 35 with bio and filter media

From what I’ve heard I think it’s better to get at least a group of six for each of your tetras and Rasboras as they are all species that do better in groups of six

I would not add another school. You’re pretty much at capacity. You can overstock and make for it with extra filtration and more frequent water changes but it’s not a good social environment for your fish. Better for temporary situations. There’s plenty of stocking calculators you can use to guide you. https://aqadvisor.com/

Or ChatGPT is super helpful but make sure you verify.

    Get a 50g 😸
