he doesn’t seem to mind but i’m just worried that having to many plants will reduce the space he can swim in

I guess it’s possible for some fish that might need some open space to swim, but bettas are notoriously fond of wedging themselves in cramped spaces so I assume he enjoys this.

You can over plant a tank but this is not over planted at all. Especially for bettas who love a very heavily planted tank, it could grow in some more.

You can over-plant if there’s no space for your fish to move around, but this isn’t even close to over-planted. If anything most people probably keep their betta tanks too sparse because the focus is on the visual aesthetics for the person looking at the tank, not the comfort of the fish. In my experience bettas are less stressed in heavily planted tanks

This is fire. Just make sure if you find duckweed seeds that might have been stuck to one, to get rid of it. Unless you’re into them!

That’s just getting comfortable for your lil guy.
I had a situation once where water circulation was seriously impacted, but that was in a 6 ft tank with only one filter with intake and output on opposite ends. Plants were reduced and a second filter added.
