Needed a stand for my new 40g tank, so thought I'd take a stab at building my own. I've seen a lot of other similar examples on here that were helpful for inspiration. General design idea was 40g up top, room for a smaller tank down below, and an enclosed shelf for a power strip and hiding away other various supplies, with a magnetic front panel.

I decided to paint it the same color as the wall to make it seem a bit less bulky. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, hopefully the reddit engineers deem it strong enough for the task.

Plans are here if anyone is interested, tho I did deviate a bit while I was building particularly around the shelf design. Think it worked out to about $150 in materials, and at a minimum you'll need a circular saw, drill/driver, and a hammer. A miter saw, sander, jig saw, and pneumatic trim nailer make things easier, though.

Oh, and remember the old adage: caulk and paint make me the carpenter I ain't
