I removed a large piece of wood from my aquarium and after leaving it standing to drip dry and then moving it, I found a lot of small dark bugs (first picture). They were moving around on the spot but look to be dying from drying out. Then checked underneath the wood (second picture) and found a lot of seemingly already dead bugs underneath and coming out the cracks. The tank has shrimp (neocaridina) and snails, is well established and not noticed these before. I do have seed shrimp in my tank, but don't believe they are a part of the life cycle of these guys. Can anyone tell me what they are please? Thank you!

it is the middle of the night and i am half awake right now, but esp since you mentioned this came out of a shrimp tank, they likely are some kind of scud!
