I have just found that my Pleco has possibly some kind of infection – I have tested the waters and everything seems fine by the test strip.

I will get some Melafix – just wondering is anyone can give any more advice on how I can help her..

Thankyou in advance..

I really hope it's not too late.

  1. This almost looks like missing scales to me? Are there any other plecostomus in the tank? Particularly rough decor? Melafix should help for healing, but I also wonder if a dose of kanaplex wouldn’t hurt.

It doesn’t appear red enough to me to be septicemia. In any case, please wait for more responses. I’m stumped by this one.

Is your heater working fine? Could be a burn?
Or it could be Columnaris. Here is a description from Google:

“causing white, cotton-like patches (mouth rot, saddleback), fin/gill damage, and rapid death, often triggered by stress or poor water quality; treatment involves clean water, stress reduction, and specific antibiotics like Kanaplex, but it’s highly contagious and difficult to cure, requiring isolation and careful sanitation.”

But I have no idea if it is that. I could be wrong. Its just from googling. Hopefully someone else can help more than me.
