A friend of mine asked me if he could turn this into an aquarium for something. I asked him about exact size and volume but he's at work now so won't know until later. I told him I'd only put snails and shrimp in there as the high form doesn't really make sense for fish as they can't really move around. I'd argue it's even to small for a betta? He said he wanted to put guppies in but I am not sure if this would work even for like one or two males.

  1. Plants+ ramshorns only. Too small and wrong shape for fish and hard to fit a filter for shrimp

So based on the size of your friend’s hand, that’s likely between 1.5 and 3 gallons, most likely on the low end. They could fit it with a tiny solid heater and sponge filter, plus a micro light and plants, and probably have a small shrimp tank. They just would have to be ok with culling shrimp; if they already have aquaria with predatory fish it could be a good way to augment food.

    Otherwise, plants and snails.
