Inb4 what a b-tch. I've been looking online and I think it's a betta. Can you tell if it's a male or a female and if it's very young? It's around 4 cm/1,5 inches.
She left it in an aquarium with two plants and a little jar of tropical fish food. I'll probably ask the fish store if they'd be willing to take it in. It's just a small fish, but it's so disappointing that people don't take responsibility for such a tiny life.

That’s awful! Most pet shops should take it but you could also ask around locally if anyone with betta experience would be willing to adopt it! It looks like a female to me.
