This is the fish tank at my work. I have asked about rehoming (owners said no), about separating them into different/bigger tanks (also a no), and I cannot take the fish and turtle myself, so I asked if I could take over their care.
Please, please, give me advice on how I can make this tank better for all of them (3 goldfish and one turtle, species unknown to me) I have never had an aquarium or a turtle — only hermit crabs a long time ago — but I know that this isn't good for them.
I need help with:
1. Identifying the turtle
2. Different ways to make the tank better for all of the critters involved
3. A cleaning/care regimen for the tank, and the turtle especially
Thank you all for your understanding, and please know that I am actively trying to improve their situation (these are not my pets, but it kills me to see them living in these conditions)!

A photo of the turtle, since it didn’t get posted with the tank pictures
Yellow Mud turtle?
Try posting on r/turtles.
I don’t even know where to start. Everything is wrong with this. Those are goldfish which get big and produce tons of waste. They like faster flowing, cool waters wit plenty of filtration. They’re carp.
The turtle is now a cold water turtle and needs a place to bask, and a heating lamp. Also, the temperature of the water needs to be adjusted. I can’t see a heater anywhere there.
Thank you for trying. There are ways to find a middle ground here, a compromise of sorts where maybe all the creatures can co-exist, but honestly whoever said “no” to your suggestions should not care for animals. They clearly have no idea wtf they’re doing.
I would definitely top off with water but it needed to be treated with a water de chlorination. These can be found on amazon or local fish store. Get a new filter probably or at least new coarse sponge. And a water heater, amazon has some cheaper ones and just see what temp goldfish and that turtle needs. Eventually you will need water parameters testing kit.
That looks like an African side neck turtle in bad shape…
I don’t know anything about turtles, but that one has a cute smile
