I got three Scarlet Badis a couple weeks ago since I had three suitable tanks to separate them into if they were too aggressive. They were quite small juveniles then with very little color and all of them looked the same. Now two are still fairly drab and one has blossomed into this scarlet king. Are the other two just late bloomers or did I stumble onto a male and two females?

The three aren't schooling-close but usually stay in the same area of the tank separated by a plant or two, sometimes they get a bit chummy like in the pic. Rarely I'll see the big red one dart at the others but it isn't a prolonged chase or anything and none of them look nipped. They like to sit and stare at snails together.
